Who Will Stand In The Secret Counsel of the Lord?
Jeremiah 23:18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? Who hath marked his word, and heard it?
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
In Jeremiah 23, The Lord is rebuking the prophets in Jeremiah’s day of prophesying from their own hearts and not from heart of God. The scripture actually declares they did not prophesy from the mouth of the Lord (Jeremiah 23:16). Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34) therefore, God’s words reveal what is on His mind and in His heart.
The Lord then begins to reveal an incredible truth we need in this hour. “Who has stood in the counsel of the Lord? The Hebrew word “stood” means to stand with someone as well as to stand in an office and be a pillar. The Hebrew word “counsel” is the same word translated as “secret” in Amos 3:7.
The Lord is asking “Who has been in My secret counsel to know what is on My heart? Who is ready to stand and partner with Me and prophesy out of this secret place of intercession where I reveal my heart, plans and intentions for My people? Who will hear My heart’s desire and stand as a pillar and connect the governmental kingdom of Heaven to the earth?”
Restoring Foundations of Intimacy
The Hebrew word for secret counsel is “sod” which also derives from “yasad” which means foundation. This is why Paul the Apostle declares that the foundation of the church is apostles and prophets with Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20)! Understanding this foundation is essential to fulfilling the call of the church to be a Holy temple and habitation of God (Ephesians 2:21-22). Sod can also be understood as hidden counsel that establishes a foundation of truth. The word “testimony” also derives from this word “yasad” which gives us a powerful picture. Ephesians 3:4-5 declares that secrets and mysteries are revealed to apostles and prophets. Jesus taught in parables to crowds yet to those He was intimate with (disciples) He revealed mysteries, secrets or His hidden counsel (Matthew 13:11). The common thread of the apostles and prophets is they spent intimate time with Jesus and not only revealed the mystery of His will, but became a witness of His resurrection by manifesting His nature. We see the same with Jesus as He spent intimate time with the Father, He did more than unfold the mystery of Father’s will in words, but become a witness of the invisible Father in the earth (John 14:9). Jesus even goes as far to say if you don’t believe the Father is living in Me then believe the works that I do testify of His nature coming out of Me (John 14:11).
The progressive revelation and mystery the Lord is revealing to us is the foundation of the church is built on, through the blood of Jesus, the ability to abide in the realm of intimacy and receive the secret counsel of His Will. As we spend time in that place we are transformed to not only bring a message but be a manifestation of that message in the earth and demonstration of His power, glory and nature coming out of us will testify of this!
If the world wanted to see the Father it was the Son that manifested Him. This is the season where if they want to see the Son, the Bride will manifest Him! Just as Jesus was in the bosom of the Father and declared Him, the Bride who abides in the bosom of the Son will declare Him as well. The foundation the church is built upon is that we have access to be in such union with Jesus, that the world does not see us but only sees Him because our life is hid in His (Colossians 3:1-3).
Reformation Is Coming
God is raising a generation of prophets, apostles and an apostolic prophetic generation who will reveal that one of the main positions of the office of the prophet and apostle is to stand and abide in the secret place. It is there they will receive God’s secret counsel to act as pillars to manifest and establish His will in the earth. God will produce nothing in the earth until He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets (Amos 3:7). The first place the word “prophet” is used in scripture is in Genesis 20:7 and it is revealing how Abraham, being a prophet, can come into the counsel of God to receive His secret counsel to bring life to the King Abimelech! It is in this place of counsel that we can become the voice of God in the earth that causes other to pass from death and into life (John 5:24). It is the voice that causes those in the grave to come into resurrection life! It is out of the secret counsel that the voice to awaken the church will come forth like the sound of the lion of the tribe of Judah.
Roar of the Lion
The Lion is about to roar(Amos 3:8) out of His secret place and it is going to cause the Fear of the Lord and the Awe of God to be restored back in the church first and then the earth. Who will understand the door to God’s heart is not simply from the pulpit but on the floor in a position of intercession? The door is in the floor. The way up is to have our face down and to sometimes to put our plates down. Keys of intimacy and prayer are being released to give us access into His counsel so we speak a clear word in season for our generation. May the Lord raise up a people who will stand in the secret counsel of the Lord and speak from His heart and cause His will to be manifested in the earth.
